How We Help

Click the play button and Cartoon Randy will explain how RNS will determine if a claim is right for you.

What you’ll get from a partnership with RNS

  • Peace of mind. We’ll help you decide if filing a claim is the right choice. If it is, we’ll guide you through the entire process—from filing the claim to being present at your insurance inspection. If we can help secure approval, we’ll be with you every step of the way to complete your home improvement project.

  • Business longevity. RNS is proud to celebrate 44 years of serving homeowners and commercial property owners across Chicagoland and surrounding suburbs. Achieving this milestone is a testament to our commitment to customer care. We’re grateful for every opportunity to partner with our customers and will continue delivering excellent service for many more years to come.

  • Workmanship warranty. RNS offers a 10-year transferrable workmanship warranty, backed by 44 years of service. Our strong reputation, built largely through word of mouth, means you can count on us to honor that warranty.

We’ll be there when you need us.

  • Workmanship. Our skilled crews, many of whom have been with us for years, consistently impress with their attention to detail and ability to complete projects quickly and efficiently. While the praise often goes to the staff who work directly with customers, much of the credit belongs to our talented crews.

  • Communication. If you’ve met me, you know I’m always available to answer calls, texts, or emails. Feel free to reach out with any questions about the insurance claim process, retail bids or anything else related to your next home improvement project.

  • Transparency and integrity. This website reflects my commitment to transparency. Not all contractors are the same, and I created this platform to showcase the integrity of RNS and myself. My goal is to help homeowners feel more confident about the insurance claim process, so they can make informed decisions when filing a claim and choosing the right contractor for their next home improvement project.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • I can file the claim with your insurance provider, but I prefer to include you in the process and make the quick (usually 10-minute) call together.

  • In short, your rates are based on your zip code (region). After a major weather event, insurance providers may raise rates in areas with a high volume of claims. If you live in a hard-hit area, your rates are likely to increase, regardless of whether you file a claim.

  • No one can guarantee your claim will be approved. However, I can guarantee that I won't ask for your business or suggest filing a claim unless I believe it has a strong chance of approval. If your home doesn’t align with others already approved for insurance-covered work, filing a claim may not be the right move.

  • A contingency agreement is standard with any contractor. The days of simple handshakes are gone, so focus on the finish line.

Instead of focusing on your claim approval, focus on the contractor’s character—longevity, workmanship, warranty, etc. Partner with the contractor who you feel will best shape your project outcome and overall experience.

Our contingency agreement is straightforward, protecting both you and us. If we help get your claim approved, you’ll only pay your deductible and agree to work with us at the insurance-determined price. If the claim is denied, you’re under no obligation to proceed. We can either wait for another insurance opportunity or offer a retail bid for the work.

  • If your claim is approved, the insurance will determine the replacement cost based on current market value for labor and materials, paying in two installments: an initial payment before work begins and a final payment after completion and receipt of the final invoice. Typically, you won't receive a lump sum.

The initial payment reflects the actual cash value (ACV) of the roof, similar to the value of a used car. The second payment covers recoverable depreciation, which the insurance holds until the work is done. Your deductible will be deducted from the ACV payment, as it’s the policyholder's responsibility.

If your policy doesn’t cover full replacement, you’ll only receive the depreciated (ACV) value minus the deductible. Some policies require you to cover more than just the deductible.

This is why I prefer to sit down and review your coverage with you before contacting insurance.

  • Roof replacements typically take 1 to 2 days, including cleanup. Gutter replacements are completed on a separate day and usually take 1 to 2 days, depending on the home's size and height. Siding replacements usually take anywhere from 1 to 3 days.

Please note, weather conditions like rain or extreme heat can cause delays, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility with the schedule.

  • Our skilled crews will clean periodically during construction. We use a mobile trailer to collect debris and protect your home and landscaping with tarps, plywood, and The Catch-All roof system.

Ensuring your home and yard look great after the job is important to us. As always, we encourage you to review the preconstruction checklist prior to your project start date and to reach out with any questions you may have.
