How We Help

Click the play button and Cartoon Randy will explain how RNS will determine if a claim is right for you.

What you’ll get from a partnership with RNS

  • Peace of mind. We will help you determine if filing a claim is the right move for you to make. If it is the right move to make, we will help you navigate throughout the entire claims process from filing the claim to being present on the day of your insurance inspection. If we can assist in your claim approval, we’ll continue to walk you through every step of completing your home improvement project.

  • Business longevity. RNS is celebrating 43 years of service to homeowners all over the Chicagoland area and surrounding suburbs. You don’t get to 43 years of business by not taking care of your customers. We appreciate every opportunity to partner with customers and will continue to provide excellent service for many more years to come.

  • Workmanship warranty. RNS offers an industry leading 10-year transferrable workmanship warranty. With our 43 years of service, you can count on our great warranty being honored. Much of our business is earned by word of mouth.

We will be there when you need us.

  • Workmanship. Our crews are excellent and have been with us for many years. What they do day in and day out is far from easy. I’m always impressed with their attention to detail and how effortless they make completing a project look in such a short amount of time. Often it’s the staff member who worked directly with a customer who receives the praise for a job well done, but it’s the skilled crews who deserve much of that credit and recognition.

  • Communication. If you’ve had a chance to meet me, you’ll know that I am always available to answer a call, text or email. You’ll also know that you can pick my brain with any questions you may have regarding the insurance claims process or anything else.

  • Transparency and integrity. This personal website I’ve created is a perfect example of my transparency. Not all contractors are made equal. I created this website to serve as a platform to not only highlight the integrity of RNS and myself, but also to help homeowners feel more comfortable about the overall insurance claims process so that they can make a more informed decision when it comes to filing a claim and choosing the right contractor for them.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • I can make a quick phone call to the insurance provider to file the claim on your behalf, but I prefer to include you throughout the entire process and make the quick (usually 10 minute) phone call with you.

  • In short, your rates are determined by your zip code. In other words, after a significant weather event, insurance providers can and likely will raise rates based on a high volume of claims in a specific area. If you happen to live in a hard hit area, chances are your rates will increase whether you file a claim or not.

  • No one should ever guarantee you that your claim will be approved. However, what I can guarantee you is that I will not ask for your business and suggest we file a claim if I do not believe your claim can be approved. If your home does not share similarities with other homes that have already been approved for an insurance-covered scope of work, then it most likely won’t make sense to file a claim.

  • A contingency agreement will be required by any contractor you choose to partner with. A simple handshake is a thing of the past. So, focus on the finish line.

In other words, assume any contractor will help get your claim approved. Now, rather than focusing on that first step, focus on the character of the contractor - longevity, workmanship, warranty, etc. - because it’s the character of your contractor that will determine your project outcome and overall experience.

Our contingency agreement is very simple and protects both the customer and us. If we can help you get your claim approved, you are only responsible for your deductible and agree to do the work with us (RNS) at a price determined by the insurance company.

If the claim is not approved, you are under no obligation to proceed. We simply wait for another insurance opportunity or we can provide you with a retail bid for the scope of work you want completed.

  • If your claim is approved, the insurance will determine a replacement cost based on the current fair market value for quality labor and materials and they will pay you in the form of two installments – an initial payment prior to the work being completed and a final payment after the work has been completed and they have received a final invoice from the contractor. Typically, you will not receive a one lump sum payment.

The initial payment made to you is the actual cash value (ACV) of the roof – like the used car value. The second payment made to you is the recoverable depreciation (the funds the insurance holds onto until the work is completed). The dollar amount of your deductible is also taken out of that initial ACV payment, as the deductible is the responsibility of the policyholder.

If your insurance policy does not provide full replacement coverage, then you will only receive the depreciated (ACV) value less the dollar amount of your deductible. There are other policies similar to an ACV only policy in which you are responsible for more than your deductible.

This is why I like to sit down with you and help you understand your coverage before we even consider calling the insurance.

  • Depending on the size of your roof, it can take anywhere from 1 to a few days to complete.

However, most roof replacements will take between 1 to 2 days to complete - cleanup included.

Gutter replacements are completed on a separate day than the roof/siding replacement and typically take 1 to 2 days to complete, depending on the size and height of the home.

Siding replacements typically take 1 to a few days to complete as well.

Keep in mind that we cannot control the weather. Rain or extreme heat can cause delays in the schedule.

We appreciate your patience and flexibility with the scheduling.

  • Our excellent crews will periodically clean while construction is underway.

We use a trailer on wheels to collect debris and we protect your home and landscaping with tarps, plywood and The Catch-All roof system.

It’s important to us that we leave your home and yard looking nice after every completed job.
